A little history
Gordonston was laid out in 1916 on land donated by W.W. Gordon, brother of Girl Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low, who set aside a wooded tract at the center as a private park for residents. The plan borrowed from the garden-suburb movement: curving streets, deep setbacks, and Craftsman houses rather than rowhouses.
The market today
The neighborhood is still owned in common through the Gordonston Association, which maintains the park. Housing is mostly original 1920s–1940s cottages and bungalows on quarter-acre lots, priced well under comparable Ardsley Park stock, with renovation activity picking up steadily.
