A little history
Starland takes its name from the Starland Dairy, whose 1900s plant on Bull Street anchored the blocks. The neighborhood emptied out with the dairy's closure and stayed quiet until two SCAD graduates began buying and rehabbing buildings in the late 1990s, deliberately seeding galleries and studios into the vacancies.
The market today
Today it is Savannah's densest concentration of independent restaurants, breweries, and design studios, with the Starland Yard food-truck park and mixed-use infill along Bull. Housing is 1910s–1930s bungalows and cottages plus a growing set of new townhomes. Appreciation has run ahead of the citywide average, and short-term rental competition is real.
