A little history
Kensington Park was developed in the 1950s and 60s as Savannah pushed south past DeRenne Avenue, part of the same postwar wave that built Fernwood and Groveland. Builders worked in brick, kept the houses low and wide, and gave every lot a real yard — a deliberate contrast to the tight downtown wards buyers were leaving.
The market today
It is one of the best value plays inside the city limits: solid brick ranches from the $350Ks, renovated and expanded homes approaching $900K, and lots that routinely run a third of an acre with mature oaks. Memorial Health, Hunter Army Airfield, and the Truman Parkway are all within a few minutes.
What to know before you buy
- Large flat lots, mature canopy, no HOA
- Quick Truman Parkway access to downtown and the islands
- 1950s–60s systems — verify panel, sewer line, and ductwork
