A little history
Skidaway Island held plantations and, later, a Union contraband settlement before the state acquired much of it. In 1972 the Branigar Organization began developing The Landings, a master-planned island community that grew to roughly 4,500 homes across six golf courses, two deep-water marinas, and 34 miles of trails. The remainder of the island holds Skidaway Institute of Oceanography and a state park.
The market today
The Landings market runs from $450K villas and patio homes to $4M-plus deep-water and marsh-front estates on the outer lagoons. Buyers should model club membership — it is separate from the community association and required for golf, tennis, and marina use.
