A little history
Talahi — a Cherokee-derived name meaning 'among the oaks' — was platted in the 1920s as a small island community along the road to Tybee. It stayed sparsely built until the postwar decades and remains the smallest of the eastern islands.
The market today
The scale is the appeal: a few hundred homes, cottage-sized lots, and creek access without the density of Wilmington Island. Prices sit between Whitemarsh and Tybee, and rebuild activity on older cottages has been steady.
