A little history
Whitemarsh Island sits between Savannah and Wilmington Island on the US-80 corridor and saw its first real subdivision activity in the 1970s and 80s. The Battle of Whitemarsh Island was fought here in 1862; today the island is best known as the retail and services hub for the eastern islands.
The market today
Housing is mostly late-20th-century subdivisions on modest lots, with marsh-front pockets along Turner Creek commanding a premium. It is the shortest island commute to downtown and carries lower flood exposure than Tybee or the outer creek edges.
